A Widow Of A Prophet Is In Crisis. Her Husband, A Faithful Man Who Feared God, Is Dead. Now Creditors Has Come To Take Two Sons As Slave For Debt
This is not just a story about debt. It is about what happens when hardship enters a faithful home.
Her house known-the creditors knew where she lived.
Preposition: God Still Sees And Provides For His Faithful People, When Creditors Know Their House.
The Crisis That Came To A Faithful Home: She Was A Widow-she Lost Her Covering.
Her Husband Feared The Lord-yet Trouble Still Came: Faithfulness Does Not Exempt Us from Trials – Job 14:1.
Her Creditor Came: In Israel Debt Could Lead To Slavery Ex. 21:2 Her Problem Was Real, Urgent And Shameful.
Creditors Today May Not Be People. It Can Be Sickness, Rent, School, Fees, Joblessness. Everyone Will Have A Time When Creditors Know Their Address.
WHERE SHE WENT WITH HER PROBLEM
She Cried To Elisha, Not To The Creditor, Not To Social Media. She Went To The Prophet Of God. Ps 50:15
Elisha Asked “What Shall I Do For You” what Do You Have In Your House?
God Always Start With What You Have. God Does Not Need What You Do Not Have.
She Said Nothing, Except A Little Oil
Little Is Much In God’s Hand.
ELISHA GAVE THREE INSTRUCTION
BORROW VESSEL!
SHUT DOOR!
POUR THE OIL!
NOTE: God provided privately before he provided publicly.
Result: she paid Her Debt, Saved her Son and Live on the Rest.
God did not just give HER SURVIVAL he gave Her sustenance.
- Faithful People Also Suffer: Fear Of God Is Not Immunity From Trouble.
- God Sees In Private: The Widows Cry Was Heard
- God uses what we have left:
- Obedience Precedes Miracle:(Naaman story) If She Had Argue About Borrowing Empty Pot, No Miracle
- Make Room For Increase: Borrow Empty Vessels-enlarge Your Capacity – Isaiah 54:2-3
- Debt Is Not Your Destiny: God Want His People To Owe No Man And Live On Rest – Rom 13:8.
- Close The Door Against Mockers: Not Everyone Should See your Oil While It Is Flowing
- GOD START WITH WHAT YOU HAVE NOT WHAT YOU LACK
2 KING 4:2 “What do you have in the house?”
God didn’t ask “what don’t you have? He asked “what do you have?”
Since she has little Oil that was enough for a miracle.
Don’t wait for big capital. start with your skill
Application
God multiplies little in the hands of faith.
- YOUR MIRACLE IS BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
2 KING 4:4 “SHUT THE DOOR BEHIND YOU”
God Does Deep Work In Secret Before He Show It In Public
The Pouring, The Multiplying, The Strategy Happens In Prayer Not On Instagram.
The Oil Didn’t Finish; The Vessels Did.
God Wanted To Keep Pouring

Reduce Noise, Increase Prayer, Reduce Complaint, Increase Obedience
- THE LIMIT IS YOUR CAPACITY NOT GOD’S SUPPLY
2 KING 4:6 “When The Vessels Were Full The Oil Stopped”
The Oil didn’t finish; the vessel did
God wanted to keep pouring
Application
Borrow more “vessels” = expand your faith, learn new skills, plan bigger, make room for more clients
some people pray for daily bread God want to give store house
- OBEDIENCE TURNS LITTLE INTO OVERFLOW
2 KING 4:5 “She went and did as she was told”
The prophet instruction sounded foolish “Go borrow Empty Jars”
Obedience activate the miracle
Application:
God’s instruction may not make economic sense but obedience is a broken economy that unlocks heaven
- GOD CARES ABOUT YOUR DEBT 2 KING 4:7 “SELL THE OIL AND PAY YOUR DEBTS”
God didn’t just give her food. He gave her freedom
God is interested in your financial bondage
APPLICATION
God want to bless you and deliver us from credit man
We should not eat the providence but invest it and not for flex
- GOD SENDS HELP THROUGH PEOPLE
2 King 4:3 “Go and borrow vessels from your neighbors”
The truth is God could have drop jars from heaven but he use neighbors
YOUR NEXT HELPER IS AROUND YOU
Application:
Don’t isolate in shame. Tell trusted people. Network; collaborate
The church is God vessel system for each other
- GOD IS A GOD OF CONITINOUS SUPPLY, NOT ONE-TIME MIRACLES
The Oil kept flowing until she stopped pouring
God want to give you a system, not just a handout
APPLICATION
Pray for business not just money, pray for skill not just job
God wants to make you a distributor not a receiver
CONCLUSION
When your creditor know your house:
- Don’t lose faith because you are faithful
- Don’t hide your problem; cry to God
- Don’t despise the little you have left
The same God who fill your the vessels will feel your house again. but you must shut the door and pour what you have
