Definition/Introduction

Cover – not to make it known to anyone. Something you hide from the public – “secret”. God is light and in things of God there is no secret except contrary to the will of God which happen to be SIN – John 1:5.

Cover Your Tracks – To try to hide what you have done, because you do not want other people to find out about it. He had attempted to hide his tracks by making her death appear like suicide. These are the extent people can go.

Introduction

Man would go to any length to cover-up his sins. He could seta building on fire to cover up a fraud, kill and maim any possible witness provided he is not caught.

He would destroy an unborn child, than face up to an improper relationship. People who are involved in fraud, theft, murder, arson, kidnapping, rape, terrorism, ritualist or misdeed of any form would acknowledge that they would rather die or kill than be found out. And some are hidden under the canopy of the Lord’s church. Be it known to you as we can find out from the scripture, “no sin remains unknown” – Galatians 5:19-21, 1 Corinthians 6:9,10, Revelation 21:8, Hebrews 9:27. AT THE SECOND DEATH BECAUSE THERE IS NO HOPE AGAIN. Let us take our mind to the book of Genesis (in the beginning – Adam and Eve). Let us examine the following points:

  1. WHY ARE PEOPLE SO HOSTILE? – Jeremiah 17:9-11

Man’s desperate attempt to cover his sins call to mind the desperation of man to belong to those that move the society, men of calibre and timbres and the shakers of the world.

Let’s examine “a Saying NAME OR MONEY

Philosophy – which is your choice? Proverbs 22:1. The Holy writ tells us that a good name is better than riches. Unfortunately, we are living in a world where the size of your purse determine the size of your honour – Proverbs 23:23, 26:1.

The fact today is that everybody is in pursuit of money regardless of how we get it. The general belief is that money answereth all things, the notion that money can buy happiness, that money can buy respect and that money can get you peace of mind, that money can buy you life, is not true – CAPITAL NO. If you still doubt this; remember Paul Getty, an American billionaire who committed suicide because of a sad life – Ecclesiastes 1:2.

A good name far surpasses filthy wealth. The good thing is that a good name seldom makes you totally poor so much that you cannot cater for your necessities. By being honest, truthful and God fearing. Make a name and all other things shall be added unto it. Think about it – Matthew 6:33.

  1. HE THAT COVERETH HIS SIN WILL NOT PROSPER: – Proverbs 28:13, Ephesians 4:28, 1 John 1:8,9 (cf. Psalm 32:3,5)
  1. THERE IS NO SECRET: – Hebrews 4:13 – There is one big eye that sees you – God. All knowing (i.e. Omnipresence and Omniscience nature of God).
  1. GOD HATES SIN AND MAN HAS TO PAY FOR EVERY SINS HE COMMITSRomans 6:23.
  1. NEMESIS WILL CATCH UP WITH YOUIsaiah 1:18,19, 55:6-7, 59:1-2 – Take a look at the case of king David, when he committed adultery with Uriah’s wife. He perfected all ways and avenues to put the situation to rest – when God open his chapter to us, you know that man propose and at God’s disposal is our reach – Galatians 6:7.

The flame if not burning, may it burn, you are always challenge to have opportunity to share the good news – you seal your mouth – Ezekiel 33:8,9. Because the presence of God is felt everywhere:

  • In Heaven – He is there
  • In Hell – He is there
  • In the uttermost part of the sea – He is there
  • The darkness and the light are both alike to Him.

Conclusion

God will bring you into judgement – your sin will find you out. This is a hard saying. We need to repent. Repentance is calling, repentance is a foundational preaching in the New Testament – Luke 13:3,5. Not given ¼, ¾, or ½, but whole – All – 2 Corinthians 6:1,2. If you have repented, submit yourself for baptism – change your ways – 2 Corinthians 5:17.

The condition of sinners are serious – 2 Thessalonians 2:12 said “that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness” – Matthew 16:26.

May God bless you all.
