Text: Isaiah 40:31
By: KAINE, MARVIS
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
Introduction:
To wait (qavah) simply means to bind together with expectation. it is not passive idleness, but it’s active trust, hope, and obedience. To believers, it is active trust and hope in God’s timing, promises, and character.
Beloved, today I want to remind us that God is still faithful. His promises never fail, and His timing is always perfect. Sometimes, when we are faced with injustice, disappointment, or delay, we may be tempted to think God has forgotten us. But the truth is — God never forgets His own.
To illustrate this, I’ll share with you a true-life story of a man I personally know — Mr. Frank. His experience shows that God still defends His children, restores what has been lost, and rewards patience when we choose to trust Him instead of reacting in the flesh.
- The Test of Faith and Patience– James 1:2–4; Romans 8:28.
Three months into his current role, Mr. Frank received a call from the Senior HR Officer. He was told that his salary had been reduced by 28% — without any valid reason — and was given the option to either accept it or leave.
Imagine that! A believer who is just three months old in his role at work, now facing sudden injustice and humiliation. Many would have reacted in anger or quit in frustration. But instead, he chose to pause, pray, and seek godly counsel.
He called a Christian brother who advised him: “Calm down, talk to your manager, and let’s pray about it.” He followed that counsel, and though his manager also felt disappointed, they both chose to trust God.
The Bible says,
“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.” (James 1:2–3).
When life’s trials test your patience, don’t lose faith. God might be preparing a testimony that will inspire many. Take Note, waiting is not a punishment, it’s preparation.
- 2. The Power of Quiet Trust- Exodus 14:13–14; Psalm 37:7.
Mr. Frank continued to work faithfully, praying in his heart and trusting God for justice. He didn’t complain or fight back — he just waited. For over a year, he kept showing up, serving with excellence, believing that God sees what man cannot see. And God truly saw him.The Bible says:
“The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.” (Exodus 14:14)
And again, “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him.” (Psalm 37:7)
Sometimes, silence is the loudest voice of faith. When we stop trying to vindicate ourselves and let God take over, He steps in at the right time.
- Divine Restoration– Joel 2:25–26; 1 Peter 5:10.
About a year and three months later, a restructuring took place in the organization. The Executive Director who had reduced his salary left the company. Shortly afterward, the Line manager presented the matter to the new COO and he requested to see the original employment approval signed by the Group Chairman.
When Mr. Frank presented it, the COO saw what was originally approved signed on it same day and called on the GHR manager to restore the salary as previously approved by the chairman with immediate effect. The Group Human Resource Manager came over to his office to break the news to Mr. Frank and even commended him for his dedication and good work.
Hallelujah! What was unjustly taken was fully restored.
The scripture says,
“and I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten…” (Joel 2:25)
And again,
“After you have suffered a while, the God of all grace… will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen and establish you.” (1 Peter 5:10)
God does not forget your labour of love. He rewards faithfulness — even when the world overlooks it.
- The Faithfulness of God Never Fails– Hebrews 10:23; Lamentations 3:22–23.
Beloved, the story of Mr. Frank reminds us that delay is not denial. It may take time, but God’s promises will surely come to pass.
Isaiah 40:31 assures us that those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. Waiting is not weakness; it is strength under control — it is trusting that God knows what He’s doing, even when we don’t.
Hebrews 10:23 says:
“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised).”
So don’t give up because of how long it’s taking. God’s calendar is not man’s calendar. The same God who restored Mr. Frank will also restore you.
Conclusion:
No matter what you’re going through — whether it’s unfair treatment, delayed promotion, or unfulfilled expectations — keep waiting on the Lord. Keep praying, keep serving, keep believing. God is working behind the scenes.
Mr. Frank story is real. It’s proof that God still defends His people and that His faithfulness never expires.
Your season of restoration is coming.
Your testimony is on the way.
Just wait on Him.
Habakkuk 2:3 (KJV)
“For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
“Don’t focus on how long you’ve been waiting — focus on Who you’re waiting for.”
For those who wait upon the Lord, strength will be renewed, honour restored, and glory revealed.
Don’t give up in the waiting? God is working.” Trust, worship, and expect.
