INTRODUCTION
Often times, when man, (especially Christians) fall into diverse trials or tribulations. We are prone to believe that God is very far from His people. For this reason, we are quick to ask questions such as, why does God allow this to happen to me? Why me? We ask such questions because of our human nature. But God in Isaiah 41:10 declared.
Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
OUR TEXT IS TAKEN FROM EXODUS 14:1 – 31 AND MATTHEW 6:25 – 35
WHO ARE THE PEOPLE OF GOD?
LOOKING AT THE OLD – EXO. 19:3-8
AND
THE NEW TESTAMENT – 1 PET. 2:9-10
EXO. 19:3 – 8
3 And Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel: 4 ‘You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. 5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. 6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.” 7 So Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before them all these words which the Lord commanded him. 8 Then all the people answered together and said, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do.” So Moses brought back the words of the people to the Lord.
1 PETER 2:9 – 10 (Gal. 3:26-27)
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
DOES GOD REALLY CARE FOR HIS PEOPLE? THE CHILDREN OF ISREAL AS A CASE STUDY
It came to pass that Moses led about six hundred thousand people of the children of Israel out of Egypt. And the Lord went before them by day and by night.

DID GOD CARE FOR THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL AT THE RED SEA? – EXO. 14:15 – 22
THE DESTRUCTION OF THE EGYPTIANS AT THE RED SEA – EXO. 14:23 – 31
In appreciation of God’s care over the children of Israel, they sang songs to glorify GOD. EXO.15: 1 – 18. We will sing verse 11 only – WHO IS LIKE UNTO THEE, O LORD.
Brethren, will God not care for us today as He did to the children of Israel? Has God not been caring and protecting us over the present deadly corona virus?
In MATT. 6:25 – 34, Jesus declared
“Therefore, I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? “Therefore, do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. NKJV
