Text: Jer. 1:4-12
By: Bro. James Eghele
(1 Pet. 2:9) know who you are and place value on yourself. You are a child of God and God is ready to show Himself strong on your behalf at all times and in every place (Hymn 287).
Jeremiah gave excuses about his inability to speak and his young age but God doesn’t make mistakes, He knows the fine details of every life. His grace is sufficient for you to do whatever He would have you do, (Vs. 7-8).
God doesn’t want you to say anything contrary to what He is saying to you be assured of His presence with you always. The Lord touched Jeremiah’s mouth and gave him the word (Vs 9-12). God gave him a special assignment and He is alert and active, watching over His word to perform it. God will make sure His words come true in our lives, He is at work in you, for you and on your behalf.
Hymn 286.
He is the God of the whole human race; nothing is too difficult for Him (Jeremiah 22:27). He will judge in your favour, He will always do what is right to His people who cry to Him night and day and He will not be slow to answer them (Luke 18:7). God is able and ready to perform His word in your life.
The children of Israel were carried away as captives because of their disobedience to God. Jeremiah wrote them a letter stating God’s message to them and the time of their deliverance. He exposed and nullified the lies of false prophets, those prophets had deceived the captives in times past by giving messages that were not from God. You have to be careful who and what you listen to. Guard your eye and ear gates. What you see and hear affects your heart. The thoughts of God towards His people are thoughts of good and not of evil (Jer. 29:1-14)
Hymn 140.
God asked the Israelites in captivity to settle down in Babylon and also pray for Babylon because they still had a long time to stay there. God gave them a specific time when He would show His concern for them and keep His promise to bring them back home.
You are a stranger and pilgrim on earth but you are to pray for the peace and prosperity of the land; there in is your peace and prosperity too (Psalm 122:6-8; 1 Tim. 2:1-3). I exhort therefore that, First of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks, to be made for every man or all men, for kings, and for all that are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peace able life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour.
God makes all things beautiful in His time (Eccl. 3:11). Your times are in His hands. Be still and know that the Lord is God; He will be exalted in the earth and in your life. (Psalm 45:10).
God alone knows the plans He has for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, and plans to bring about the future you hope for. It is not good for you to lack knowledge of the ways of God; if you act quickly you might make mistakes (Prov. 19:2).
Hymn 433
Moses walked with God and the Lord showed him His ways; He revealed His character to Moses (Psa 103:7).
God wants you to know and understand Him better so that you may confidently seek His face. Pray to Him and He will answer you. Seek Him with all your heart and you will find Him; you will not be disappointed. Look to Him and be radiant (Psa. 34:5).
