INTRODUCTION

In any well-organized body or group, achievement is vital to the executive members or leaders.

Similarly, what is prime in the heart of Christ is achievement of the purpose of establishing the church, which is the preaching of the glorious gospel for the salvation of man’s souls (Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15, Acts 2:35-47, Romans 1:16,  1 Corinthians 12:13).

Achievement is something that has been done or achieved through effort, a result of hard work, the art or state of achieving something.

DISCUSSION

The purpose of leadership is the motivation of followers for the realization of set goals. The individual Christians and local congregations also have goals to achieve from time to time.

What are our achievements this year and our plans for next year?

We shall discuss the following to x-ray our achievements this year for better achievements next year.

WORSHIP

What have we achieved this year in worship? In attendance, Sunday morning worship, sisters’ class, brothers’ class, house fellowship, combined mid-week bible class, prayer meeting (including a day for fasting), songs practice, weekly or monthly evangelism, and so on.

Can we beat our chests and say we did not forsake?  Hebrews 10:25.

Have we changed our conducts for good during worship? This is because God must be greatly honoured (feared) among us.

Psalms 89:9 – God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be held in reverence by all those around Him.

THE HOME

The individual Christian homes make up the church and God designs the home as the basic training ground for children and church leaders (Ephesians 6:1-4; I Timothy 3:4-5).

Can we boast of our children behaving well and worshipping in the Lord’s church when they are away from us or after our demise? Can our homes produce church leaders? Our homes should be Christ’s, husband, wife and children with love and full obedience to the word of God (Ephesians 5:23-25,28,29,

Ephesians 6:1-4).

Ephesians 5:28-29 – So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.

 THE CHRISTIAN HOME

Let’s make our homes the ideal Christian homes where God is worshipped regularly no matter the circumstances (Matthew 4:10).

SOUL-WINNING

Evangelism is crucial to the existence, growth and spread of the church and thus every Christian and every local congregation especially the evangelists/ministers must be evangelistic (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-16, II Tim. 4:1-2).

Can we say we achieve success in soul-winning this year compared to previous years?

To what extent did leaders motivated followers for this work this year?

What are the plans for effective evangelism next year?

VISITATION

Christ said, “when I was sick…you visited me not…and the Holy Spirit also said that practitioners of true religion must visit (Matthew 25:32-46; James 1:27).

We must visit one another especially new converts to encourage one another for good works (Hebrews 10:24).

Let us improve on our visitation to one another for better achievements next year.

LIFE OF SHARING

We must share our worldly goods (material blessings) with one another (James 2:16, 1 John 3:17, Galatians 6:9,10; Acts 20:35).

We are one big family – Ephesians 3:15 –  from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.

This family of God is more important than our fleshly family because Christ is involved and it continues forever in heaven.

As one big family of God, let us love and care for one another sincerely (Colossians 2:2).

Whatever we have heard this year, let us practice them for better performances next year.

CONCLUSION

Beloved brethren at the end of each day, God wants us to have good (√), at the end of each week, He wants good for us, every month end or quarter, He prefers we have good and at the end of the year, He gives us very good for we are going to be judged according to our doings (achievements) on the last day   (2 Corinthians 5:10).
