Text: Matthew 6:33
By: Bro. Sunny Ogumor
Money has value that is why everybody is looking for money. From your perspective dose Christianity have value?
Today every church goer is a Christian even those who attend church service once in a month or less for no reason other than laziness or pleasure. But it will be of great benefit if you know the value that make you like to bear this name. Not all that say Lord, Lord will enter into the Kingdom of heaven except you do the will of the Almighty God. Let us get control of our Christian life and make use of the fullness of it. The gain of been a true Christian are enormous but the problem we have is how to abide by the principles of Christianity. Seek ye first the Kingdom, Matt 6:33, this is quite good but the righteousness thereof is the main issue.
Every normal human being will not want to put his or her talent, energy and ability in a business that will not yield profit. I therefore want to remind us that the most valuable and profitable way to live well here on earth and beyond is to be a true Christian. Those who value life will live as Christians and die with the hope of a Christian. Not only in this world does Christian have hope in Christ Jesus. Our hope lies beyond this world, yet some people see no value or gain in the principles of Christianity, they believe in the doctrine of let’s eat, drink and be merry….the rich fool Lk.12:19.
Why should a man want to be a Christian, except he believes that there are gains and values attached to this name. There are values we should focus on not just earthly thing which perish with the usage.
You will be saved: the assurance is there. Those who survived COVID 19, or some serious sickness will appreciate the word “to be saved”.
Act.2:40 – 42, Save yourself from this corrupt generation Peter told the gathering. Lk.20:36 ….no death but equal to angels after resurrection. Believers shall obtain the resurrection from the dead and that is the blessed resurrection. What shall be the happy state of the inhabitants of that world, we cannot express or conceive, 1Cor. 2:9. You have not seen or heard of what God prepared for you yet.
To be a child of God: John 1:12 …as many as received him, he gave power to become the sons of God. If say we are Christians, yet do not receive him because we will not forsake our old ways and allow him to reign over us, then we have done nothing. All the children of God are born again. This new birth is not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible seed, 1Pet. 1:23, and so shall it be. When you call yourself a child of God you should conduct your self along that line. Separate yourself from worldly things and maintain your contact with God. But we fine it difficult to draw the line, sometime not knowing when we cross the line.
Rom.8:16. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:…If you meet the requirement then why not. 1Jn.3:1-3, behold God loves us and we are called His sons (after baptism and so shall we remain in Jesus name).
Even those a far off will be adopted as many as the Lord shall call. Adoption is the giving to any one the name and place and privileges of a child who is not a child by birth. (not come follow me stay ooo).
Those adopted received the spirit of adoption, no more fear of bondage. Rm. 8:14-15. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
As an obedient child after adoption you walk according to the dictate of the father now you are led by the spirit of God no more of the flesh. From hence we see how much it is our duty to walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. If any continue lusting after the flesh he will surely perish in sins. Therefor let us try to do away with the lust of the flesh.
If the Spirit is in us, then Christ is in us. He dwells in the heart by faith. From there we know how to walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit in a godly way. If not, what can a worldly life do for you, nothing but lead the way to destruction. God adopted Israel, Gen. 32:28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel. Therefore adoption is an act of God’s grace by which he brings men into the number of his redeemed family, and makes them partakers of all the blessings he has provided for them. This is what we should pray for.
Owner of everything the father has: A legal inheritor of something: Rom.8:17. Joint heir with Christ. Locally we attached some importance to the first born especially man. If he is to take over the kingship from the father then he needs to follow up and know what the father is doing early enough. Col 1:15-16 Christ who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: As heir of all things, He is the sole proprietor of the vast creation of God, and He has admitted us to claim the whole as ours, by virtue of that deed of joint-heir-ship which the Lord hath ratified with His chosen people. Imagine the golden streets of paradise, the pearly gates, the river of life, the transcendent bliss, and the unutterable glory are by our blessed Lord, made over to us for our everlasting possession. Do you believe in Christ?
Gal.3:29…if you believe in Christ then joint heir according to the promise.
When your name is written in heaven what else do you need: American citizen and Heaven citizen which one do you prefer? Lk.10:20 what a joy if you know that your name is written in heaven. Rev. 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. None of us will want to be a castaway at the end of time that is why we should strive to do the will of God to write our name in the book of life.
Believe it or not a priest has some special recognition among his people, and you are a royal priest. 1Pt.2:9. a chosen generation. Let us not dare to abuse this free grace from God, if we mean to be saved let us be found among those who obtained mercy and walk as children God. Eph.1:3-14…there is a divine plan of salvation, Christ is the guarantor of our inheritance.
Work out your salvation with fear and trembling. There are many distractions along the way it takes dedication and perseverance and the grace of God, to sail through. Above all these there is hope of good living for the meek in their day to day living. The meek shall inherit the earth. These are those who quietly submit to the will of God; Matt 5:3-11 (Beatitude).
If you come from a rich earthly family you will understand this verse, to have abundant supplies: My God shall supply all your needs. Phil. 4:19. Where is the supply you may ask, some have enough some does not have enough, but know that all good things come from God.
Let us pray for patient submission and hope when we are not doing very well and for humility and a heavenly mind when doing well. It is a special grace to have an equal temper of mind always. And in a low state do not lose your confident in God, or distrust his ability to provide, or take any wrong course for your own supply. In a prosperous condition do not be proud or go worldly.
Christ said in Matt. 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. Today we are brethren because we are Christians. No more foreigners and strangers but fellow citizens in the household of God. Eph 2:19.
There is a promise for us to live well and shine in the mist of crooked people. Phil 2:15. Let us claim it because according to 2Tim.4:18 we are preserved for heaven and in time of storm let us call on the Lord he has a shelter for us were we will take refuge, Psm.9:9; 57:1, Isa.25:4.
Be confidence in expectations and be hopeful in this world and beyond. 1Cor.15:19, Col 1:5. The hope we have is an anchor to our soul, firm and secured. Heb 6:18-19.
Do not be troubled we have been promised eternal life 1Jn.2:25 and divine protection. 2Cor.10:4, a safe deposit for treasure in heaven Matt.6:20 just continue to add to the safe. Be sure your name is in the register of saints in heaven, Lk.10:20. Please cross check by faith your room is reserved in heaven, Jn.14:2.
Conclusion:
Those are the things you should look unto as a Christian. Please note; Winners don’t quit and quitters don’t win. Heaven is the final dwelling place of saints; they deserve a better country. Heb11:16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city. Prepare to be resident in that city.
Hym 708: When we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing that well be.
